36 International Valves MagazineHeating radiator life tests
The first year of new generation heating radiator life testing has come to an end. Following radiators were tested: bimetallic, aluminium without interior coating, STI aluminium with interior anticorrosive coating, and cast–iron “Briz”. Conclusions based on the results of the first year are as follows:
  • Conditionally “bimetallic” radiators in centralized heating system are corrodible inside in the areas of aluminum/steel channels contacts.
  • Cast aluminum radiators may be corrodible at the bottom part during discharging of the system.
42 International Valves MagazineWhy utilities and municipal building–maintenance services buy Chinese valves unwillingly?
Chinese economy is experiencing rapid growth almost in all fields including valve engineering. Yesterday, we didn’t know anything about Chinese valves, while now they conquer Russian market actively. However, in spite of all the onset activity and relatively low price, Russian utilities and municipal building–maintenance services have moderate demand for Chinese valves yet. This article discusses the reasons of the situation.
45 Incoming inspection results for welding neck flanges of Eversteel trademark
Eversteel flanges (China) delivered to ZAO Konar for completing a combined order were rejected during the standard incoming inspection for bought articles. The results of rapid analysis showed that actual chemical composition of steel 20 didn’t meet to certificated composition in permissible content of non–metal impurities (carbon, silicon, sulfur, phosphor), which define welding characteristics, long–term strength, and impact resistance of flange material.
51 AVK gas valves and regulating requirements
AVK’s gas gate valves (Dane) are widely–used in Russia gas pipelines as an alternative to ball valves and non–rubberized wedge gate valves. Today, it’s clear for many Russian specialists that using of AVK’s gate valves is reasonable. However, the provisions of legal base and technical norm references for this applications require some explanations.
53 International Valves MagazineMankenberg’s pressure regulator (Germany) — a new and unique offer from ADL Company
It was thanks to High Grade technology that Mankenberg became a leader in the control valve market of Germany. World demand for stainless steel valve grows increasingly. No other manufacturers can offer products for such wide range of applications. Product range is from polished control valve for applications with high sanitary requirements to high accuracy control valve for electronic microprocessor manufacturers.
63 International Valves MagazineReducer with an indicator of for valve with DN 100–600 mm
As pipeline networks expand the safe requirements for valves operation increase. One of these requirements is a plug position indicator. OOO Sokol specialists developed a РСЛ —В–00 cone reducer (patent number № 59184 of June 29, 2006) with a plug position indicator. OOO Armtechstroy started manufacturing of the reducer.
64 R. Ionaitis: Uncommon thoughts and reminiscences. Part 4
This article is a continuation of Professor Ionaitis’ memoirs. This part covers the construction of nuclear reactors in the north and Siberia in the fifties and sixties of XX century.
89 KAMAZ–Metallurgy Plc in 2006
The market of cast and forged pieces has been analyzed. Today, about 1650 foundries function in Russia. They produced near 8 million tones in 2006, while the efficiency of the facilities allows to produce 13.5 million tones. 340 thousands of people work at the foundries. The foundries, as a rule, are not independent. They are affiliated with big machine building complexes (machinery plants produce 85 per cent of all the casts in the country). The most part of orders are received from the manufacturers of tractors, combines, and vehicles. One of the main industry problem is that 80 per cent of the machinery function over 20 years and require replacement.
95 Innovation activity of Rosatom Concern
April 24, 2007, Trade Fair of Innovative Solutions for Evolutional Project for NPP–2006 Power Plant and New Technological Platform of Nuclear Power Engineering was held in Moscow. The event included an exhibition of the most perspective innovative solutions, technologies, and equipment for evolutional projects for power plant and conventional power engineering which were introduced by research, engineering and manufacturing divisions of Rosatom and the organizations of other industries. Total amount of the Trade Fair participants was over 500.
The organizing committee of the Trade Fair examined 216 innovative projects from 86 organizations of the branch and other industries and selected the most attractive of them in every of eight nominations.

114 International Valves MagazineValves for heat–and–power engineering facilities of municipal services and industrial applications
Current updating of Russian utilities and municipal building–maintenance services can’t progress effectively without fundamental technical re–equipment of heat–and–power engineering facilities which provide people of the country with heat and hot water. Need for up–to–date control, shut–off and safety valves for heating plants was increased considerably. The reason is necessity of simultaneous provisioning of process automation, smart technologies, as well as safety and power efficiency conditions.
This articles presents R&D results on new domestic valve for heat power engineering which was held according to a few scientific and engineering programs in Moscow.
121 International Valves MagazineAbout valves and «valvemen» without ceremonies — 1
The first part of the interview with Olga Krasnoschekova about life and work of valve companies’ heads
Why are there so few women at the leading positions in the field of valve engineering? Whether it is connected with the excessive ambitions of valve engineers which are concerned about competition of stylish and intellectual colleagues? What prevents our businessmen from learning business culture. Olga Krasnoschekova presents her point of vision on this matter.
122 International Valves MagazineValve Professionalism School of D. G. Grak. 5th Saint–Petersburg Training–Seminar “Valve Master–Class”, August, 22–24, 2007
August, 22–24, 2007, 5th Saint–Petersburg Training–Seminar “Valve Master–Class” was held in Lancaster Court Hotel, Saint–Petersburg. The event was dedicated to training of managers and specialists of valve companies. Practical colloquium «China Valves in Russian Market» was held as a part of the “Valve Master–Class” August, 24. The President of Chinese Valve Association Huang Mingua sent a welcoming speech to the seminar participants.
126 International Valves MagazineOutstanding chief designer in the field of valve engineering
The article is dedicated to Vadim Tarasovitch Lemberg, whose name is connected with a real era from the day of foundation to current days of Penztyazhpromarmatura plant (later, it was given a new name — production association).

130 International Valves Magazine Electrical valve actuator market review
The perspective of Russia WTO accession as well as much–talked–of «Chinese threat» makes domestic manufacturers speed up extending of valve actuator product range to increase quality, reliability and recognizability of their products.
140 International Valves MagazineControl valves for flow regulation at high pressure drops
One of the effective solutions to obtain stable operation of control valve operating mechanism for applications with a high pressure drops is using of valve with cage type trim design and tortuous paths for medium flow. Valve contains numerous disks with tortuous paths providing multi–stage throttling. Each disk includes over 10 throttling stages decreasing flow speed more than 85 % in comparison with one–stage throttling designs.
